Wiliot envisions a world where retailers have item-level product intelligence and a continuous view of how inventory flows from manufacturer to customer.

Where retailer's supply chain and inventory were automated to satisfy demand forecasts quicker and more cost-effectively.

Enabling retailers to satisfy consumers and generate revenue by increasing on-shelf availability, improving merchandising, and reducing overstock and out-of-stocks.

At Retailtech Japan, SATO presented a retail solution powered by Wiliot technology that would transition retailers to the new world of omni-channel, next gen in-store experiences with more efficient store real-estate and staffing; forecast demand and optimize inventory levels, understand customer behavior, and prevent theft and loss.

SATO describes the retail application solution powered by Wiliot Technology in more detail in their Press Release below.

Read the Press Release Here in Japanese - We have provided an English translation of the release for your reference:

SATO: Exhibiting store management solutions that enable real-time inventory management and marketing at "Retailtech Japan"

Wiliot IoT Pixels enables operational efficiency and understanding of consumer behavior.

TOKYO, February 17, 2022- SATO CORPORATION (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroyuki Konuma, hereinafter referred to as SATO) will participate in "Nikkei Messe Retail Tech JAPAN 2022" to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 1, 2022 (Tuesday). We will exhibit a retail application service that enables next-generation retail operations using the IoT sensing label "Wiliot IoT Pixel" (hereinafter referred to as "Wiliot tag") (booth number RT1305). This Retail Application Service is a solution that provides new store operations by capturing the "state of each product" and "consumer behavior" in the store, which was previously difficult to informatize.

In the Retail Application Service exhibited this time, the Wiliot tag is attached to each product in the store, the display shelf of the product, and the sales promotion sample to grasp the movement of goods and visitors in the store. The Wiliot tag is a battery-less ultra-compact Bluetooth ® tag with a sensor function that captures changes in the position, temperature, movement, capacity, etc. of attached objects through smartphones and devices in stores * 1 . In addition, since it can continue to operate by converting the surrounding radio waves into electric power, information can be continuously collected from the thing with the Wiliot tag attached.

    * 1 Functions under development are also included.

There are six pieces of information that can be captured by this retail application service.

    1. Real-time detection of whether a product (individual product) is present or not
    2. How many products are on the product display shelves
    3. Length of stay and temperature transition of products (individual products) in the store
    4. Usage of promotional sample POSM (Point of Sale Materials)
    5. Automation of information provided for each product to consumers
    6. Real-time automatic acquisition of the above

By capturing and collecting this information, real-time inventory management, reduction of sales opportunity loss, operational efficiency of employees, marketing based on visitor behavior, etc. can be realized. We propose new solutions to customers in the distribution and retail industries who are looking for efficient store management, 1to1 marketing, sales promotion measures, etc. against the backdrop of labor shortages. Retail application services are targeted for commercialization in the fall of 2022.

Functions provided by Retail Application Services

    • Replenishment Control Service (individual unit, or display shelf unit)
    • Freshness Management Service
    • Promotional Product Management Service (called “Real-time Promotion Service”)
    • Product Information Service

SATO aims to develop a business that creates new added value for distribution and retail supply chains through the construction of new sensing technologies and solutions, and the utilization of data based on them.

    Functions of each service

    • Replenishment management service: When tagging individual products
Attach a Wiliot tag to individual products to grasp the quantity of individual products in real-time. Notify employees when a product is expected to be out of stock (when a threshold that requires replenishment is reached). Automatic real-time inventory management contributes to reducing lost sales opportunities due to shortages and improving employee work efficiency.
    • Replenishment management service: When tags are attached to shelves
By using the Wiliot tags placed on the product shelves, the product display status can be grasped. Notify employees when a product is expected to be out of stock (when a threshold that requires replenishment is reached). Automatic real-time inventory management contributes to reducing lost sales opportunities due to shortages and improving employee work efficiency.
    • Freshness Management Service
the inventory period and temperature of the displayed products and keeps the products fresh. A Wiliot tag is attached to each product, the inventory period and temperature change are recorded, and if the appropriate inventory period and control temperature are impaired, the employee is notified of the correction instruction of the product management work. Reduce food loss by thoroughly first-in, first-out products, and reduce the work burden on employees such as checking the expiration date.
    • Real-time Promotion Service
By grasping the frequency with which POSM (Point of Sale Materials), which is a sales promotion sample displayed in the store, is picked up by customers with the Wiliot tag, it is utilized for POSM maintenance implementation and product marketing. It is also possible to display promotional content on digital signage when a visitor picks up a POSM. Reduce the work burden related to product marketing, sales floor improvement, and employee POSM maintenance.
    • Product information service
A Wiliot tag is attached to each product, and the inventory and detailed information of the products displayed in the sales floor are displayed on the digital signage in the store and provided to customers. It contributes to sales by providing product information to customers, and enables even inexperienced employees to provide high-quality store services.
    • Dashboard
The data collected and managed by the above services can be listed on the dashboard "Operational Quality".
