The Problem

The facilities that send hundreds of pallets out daily are all too familiar with a percentage of items being loaded into the wrong trucks, or left behind entirely – It’s just part of operations. 


At the outbound dock, lost pallets result in more labor for lost and found and rework, or if unnoticed also result in chargeback. Downstream, it is the butterfly effect: incorrect deliveries, unexpected low-stocks or out-of-stocks, and ultimately empty shelves. Traditional methods of managing outbound logistics often lack the ability to react in real-time, making it difficult to ensure that the right pallets are loaded onto the right trucks. 


In grocery facilities, this outbound zone is an especially problematic area for maintaining temperature compliance for perishable goods. The longer these products sit outside their acceptable temperature range, the greater the chance for a degradation in product quality, and eventually even spoilage and waste.

The Wiliot Ambient Data Platform draws insights from IoT Pixels, Bluetooth stickers that are embedded into shipping labels or placed directly onto pallets. 


Low-cost, Bluetooth-based Ambient IoT network devices are installed at your DC loading dock. These devices energize the IoT Pixels on pallets placed in staging, and relay their sensing and location data without the need for manual scanning or counting processes.  

 

In the Wiliot Ambient Data Platform, these signals are analyzed using AI-based machine learning data models to determine which pallets are waiting at the loading dock, where within the loading dock they are located, their current temperature, their dwell time at the dock, and which truck they are loaded into.
